BARMM, MIMAROPA and Eastern Visayas sit low partly because more homes there are still off the grid, which pulls the per-household average down.
Sources & method
- Regional averages = residential electricity sales per region (DOE Power Statistics 2024) ÷ households (PSA 2020 census) ÷ 12. Households have grown since 2020, so these run slightly high.
- Negros Island Region was created in 2024, after the census. Its households are Negros Oriental and Siquijor (PSA) plus Negros Occidental and Bacolod estimated from population; Western and Central Visayas are reduced to match.
- Barangay, village and city rankings come from Konteksto users' own entries. Nobody publishes kWh at that level. A place shows a ranking once it has 5 entries.
- 12-month regional lines spread each region's yearly average across the months using the shape of DOE's monthly residential sales for its grid (Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao). They show the seasonal swing, the summer peak, rather than a measured monthly figure for that region.
- ASEAN figures are each country's best published household number and aren't measured the same way: Malaysia (Int'l Journal of Energy Economics and Policy, Seremban household survey, 2019); Singapore, condo (Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, average condo, 2024); Singapore, 4-room HDB (Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, average 4-room public flat, 2024); Philippines (DOE Power Statistics; PSA census, national average household, 2024); Thailand (Energy Reports (2020), national household survey, 2018); Indonesia (PLN via Infobank, household sales per PLN customer, 2025). Vietnam has no comparable published figure yet. Full methodology →
